future friendly entertainment space
A recently retired client set us the brief of converting a muddy slope into a low maintenance, wildlife friendly space for entertaining.
The soft curves direct the viewer around the garden, encouraging the whole space to be used. Pathways lead to smaller seating areas with ample space in between for wildlife to flourish. There are hedgehog holes in the fencing and unpaved routes across the garden. We decided on breaking the slope with raised planters that allow for easy client involvement in horticulture. The aim of the garden was to enclose the areas in planting and lighting. Most of the boundaries have heavy duty trellis and the upper seating area has bespoke hardwood planters with integrated lighting. There is also floodlights beneath existing trees and strip lights set into the base of the raised beds and benches, flooding the stone paving with light to create a truly dramatic effect.
This garden is an amazing place to sit and watch, surrounded by nature that really comes alive at night.
